Jim Chu

Jim Chu has worked for the United States Forest Service for 39 years.  For the past 13 years, he has worked as a natural resources specialist for international programs in the Migratory Species Program.  Jim works to protect habitat for migratory species (birds, bats and butterflies) that are found on National Forests and National Grasslands.  Jim manages the Copper River International Migratory Bird Initiative.  This is a loose knit group of governmental and non-governmental organizations from nine countries that are working to protect shorebird habitat from Alaska to Chile by providing small grants and building capacity of local partners.

Coastal Solutions Fellowship Program

The Coastal Solutions Fellows Program builds and supports an international community to design and implement solutions that address coastal challenges across the Pacific Americas Flyway. Our main goal is to conserve coastal habitats and shorebird populations by building the knowledge, resources, and skills of Latin American professionals, and by fostering collaborations among multiple disciplines and sectors.
