  • eBird passes 2 billion bird observations

    The citizen science platform eBird passed 2 billion bird records around the world. This achievement is being celebrated particularly in Latin America, where the records of the region’s great bird diversity through this platform allow people to be part of a global science effort and contribute to the conservation of these species.

  • CONAF’s environmental monitors spot endangered species in the Elqui River Wetland 
    Article published in the newspaper El Día from Chile about the incredible sighting of the South American Painted-Snipe (Nycticryphes semicollaris), an endangered species reported by the environmental monitors and collaborators of the 2023 Fellow, María Valladares, in the Coquimbo Bay in central northern Chile.

    Mongabay Latam reports on the incredible work of 2022 Fellow Victor Ayala in the recovery of oxidation ponds in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, which have become important habitats for migratory and resident birds in the region.  

Coastal Solutions Fellowship Program

The Coastal Solutions Fellows Program builds and supports an international community to design and implement solutions that address coastal challenges across the Pacific Americas Flyway. Our main goal is to conserve coastal habitats and shorebird populations by building the knowledge, resources, and skills of Latin American professionals, and by fostering collaborations among multiple disciplines and sectors.
